Villa Caumont is situated in the department of Vaucluse in the south-east of France, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
The historic city of Avignon is the capital of the department, a short 10 minute drive from the villa. There are many wonderful sights to take in, the Palais des Papes was the Papal residence throughout much of the 14th century and is the focal point of the city centre. The Pont d'Avignon is a picturesque ruined bridge of the 12th century which stretches halfway across the Rhone, the bridge was immortalized in the song "Sur le pont d'Avignon".
The summer arts festival in Avignon has been running since 1947, incorporating theatre, dance, cinema and music it is a combination of formal events and amateur street performance. The festival normally runs for 3 weeks in July.
Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is a medieval village 25 km east of Avignon. The town is built around its spring, in a valley at the foot of the Vaucluse Mountains, situated at the foot of a steep cliff 230 metres high, it is the biggest spring in France (which is called a 'fountain' here). This lovely village and spectacular natural wonder are well worth visiting.

The town of Orange is just 21km north of Avignon. Famed for it's Roman architecture it boasts the best preserved Roman theatre in Europe which hosts an opera festival each year.
Driving south from the villa you reach the Mediterranean coastline in approximately an hour and a half. The breathtaking coastline near Marseille boasts fine rugged inlets, known as Les Calanques, which serve to protect fine sandy beaches.
